Hello, I'm Flanqer, and I'm the Fandom Wiki Manager for Legend of Heroes Series Wiki. I introduced myself in the forum, but wanted to drop you a personal message since you're the admin. I'm here to help your community, and to be a liaison to full-time Fandom Staff. If you ever have any questions related to the wiki, whether it's about editing, styling, infoboxes, policy, etc, please contact me on my message wall.
First of all hello. I'm Magma MK-II, and I'm currently taking care for some of the gaming footer at Community Central, since they are no longer being updated by Fandom Staff. I took the liberty and moved this wiki from the RPG footer (which covers western RPGs) to the JRPG footer (which covers Japanese RPGs). If possible could you update the main page with the proper footer? Thanks in advance.
But PLEASE do not create pages with limited information, as they become redundant, such as the Alisa's father one which I purposely did not create (as well as many other pages I left out on purpose). It just clogs up the site and there is no need for it, at least until we get a system going.
Hey, Whiteknight. Too long of a name to say fully.
I think this wiki is lacking a certain something. It's kinda my fault, I should have told TheUnseelie about it during its early days when I was a bureaucrat here on my old account, but don't you think the design on this wiki is somewhat close to horrible?
I know it's out of the blue (pun not intended), but everything is so dull. As a designer and such, I think I can spice things up but with my current status, I can't really do anything.
So? What do you suggest? In terms of it being apprectiative, it falls behind the other wiki I randomly crossed over on the internet.
I already have noticed the Kiseki Wiki, and this wiki has only improved much since my promotion to admin. While there is still much to fill very much to fill, im still on structuring the rules, so I guess I could need some negotiations from you and other fans before implementing.
Still if we can agree, we should build this wiki to fulfill every detail up to the entire LoH universe. But first the policies, copyright templates of fair uses for images, navboxes, and such. We need a general system to compromise that any new contributor can follow.
On another notes, if you've watched the CS3 gameplay, lets suspend putting any new info and concentrate with info from the predecessors. I don't know about you, but the story really puts me in suspense, kindling up for a new spoiler template
I agree. The other one me, Silver and TheUnseelie ran was just as good (a lot more information in each article) but this was before 2010, so nothing about the series could have really been translated, so it was a hard decision, but we had decided to shut it. Self-flattery much? Any wiki should improve when another person steps up, that's why these rulings exist. When I asked TheUnseelie to give me rights, he told me that he was set, but he told me as one of the first few. He then said his mind is puzzle because of the neo wiki's arrival, I would have been admin if he did not slightly go rampant with his decision-making. It just so happened that you were later involved and slightly a few months before my rejoin here.
On the other hand, I noticed this Kiseki wiki's admin you speak of refer to it as his/her wiki. It is actually against wiki policy to class a wiki as one of their's, even if they are the founder, because it is really no different than a click. Summary, an admin does not own a wiki, this person may be failing to realise that. I've read [] and she constantly refers to it as "my wiki". We can report this if further claims seem to continue, but I will not argue over this dispute.
I think it was fluent when TheUnseelie ran it (before his sudden departure). But I guess, you and I seemed to have done our share as well. Well, I haven't been watching CS3, but rather playing it. In all honesty, I could have started a new wiki, because I run things very quickly without simply creating half-empty or stub pages with relatively no information, which is why I find TheUnseelie was rather good (not in every case, but overall).
So, in the end, it's just you and me. Essentially.
It has come to my attention that the other one receives a lot more edits now. If me and you met each other earlier, we could have turned the tables a lot quicker.
Rulings on change are that of which me and you should discuss before implementation. I'm glad, even if it's just you by me, that we have not abandoned this wiki.
One change I would want to "implement" is renaming all crafts and s-crafts pages.
Here's an example:
Tita Russell/Crafts and S-Craft to simply Tita Russell/Crafts; because the term Craft on its own implies ALL types of crafts, S-Craft is a type of craft, just at a higher level. I assume you have no problem with this as it is reasonable.
Also, I am reclaiming my art books of the series which I will be receiving back soon and other Japanese sources, where we can use primary images from. Sorry this was kind of lengthy.
OK, I know I feel kinda half-baked for leaving half-empty or stub pages with relatively no information. But I was kind of hoping of giving other users a chance to fill, is what I thought.
Seeing your example: Tita Russell/Crafts. Could we stick to Tita Russell/Gameplay. Cause back then, I initially thought of separate tabs dividing between crafts, weapons, battle status, etc. But looking back at Method Mockingbird's edits convinced me to consolidate them into the character's gameplay page.
I was thinking for now all LoH party characters should follow this setting, any other ideas?
I would prefer to use Tita Russell/Crafts as it refers to that specific word and the word "gameplay" doesn't seem "professional". I'm sorry I can't find the right word. OR we can combine it so that Gameplay appears in character pages, i.e. Tita's actual main page, so she would have a main header called "Gameplay" and underneath a sub-header for "Craft", "Weapons", "Status", etc. (possibly collapsable so that the page doesn't seem to big).
Otherwise, we can rename the Crafts pages to Gameplay if you are really insistent with it.
This will allow many with less information to have a build up on there pages. Sure, we'll be losing a few "pages" (tab pages) but we'll retain the same information.
For now, we'll work on general in everything. You can focus of the Trails in the Sky sub-series, if you wish.
I agree with the TLOH party characters following on this format, depending on which we decided. Also, if it's not too much to ask, is there any specific page by Method Mockingbird's edits. Believe it or not, I used to hate it when Methodic Mockingbird used to edit, even TU would complain to me about it.
I do see it working, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we have to follow the same process. A lot actually include gameplay values into the main page to stop congesting the wiki up. I think what would be best is to have a Main Page, Gameplay page and a Gallery page. Quotes, etc. can be included in the main page. Once we sort out problems, we can merge/combine anything necessary.
Really? Are you bad at html coding? I can take a look if you want? I studied computing but I am not the most technical. The tabbers have been bothering me recently, I thought you were working on fixing them.
I'm not an html guy, but I sent a report to the community wiki about the case but no response yet. WOnder how the other wikis are handling them well?
If you played the LoH games so far especially the Trails Series, there's a lot of info to grab and organize into. Can we agree with the following cause each party/boss character page should contain much: Main, Gameplay, Gallery, Story (Synopsis), Relationships, and Quotes. Since the NPCs are minor (excluding those as major support), we might reorganize with something new.
I think because the majority of them know how to code.
I have played a majority of them, just not the crossover battle (Ys vs Sora) one. Like I was saying, I think we should keep the main page, gameplay, gallery and story. I don't have a huge problem with relationship pages but given that they are sufficient and not stubs. One thing which I think should not happen is that quotes get a separate page.
Summary: Quotes should share the same page as the Main page, that is all I am asking. One reason, they don't have much content/text information in the first place. Number two, is that helps to expand on characters who's Main page are already stubs.
Is that alright? I think you are more concerned with matching how other wikis (mainly game-based) are arranging and presenting their content.
Just because you have no use for an image does not mean others have no use for it either. If an image is not inflammatory or otherwise offensive it should not be deleted unless it is being replaced by a better quality image of the same subject.
So hey I noticed you protected the article on Joshua, but you do know Rean does not in fact share a weapon with a main character from any Suikoden game, right? None of them use a Katana. Hugo uses duel daggers and the rest of the III protagonists use longswords in the european style, Lazlo uses twin shortsword style blades, Tir a bo staff, Riou uses Tonfa. Hero V/Faroush/Freyjadour uses a segmented staff.
A better case could be made with Ries and Nash, the protagonist of the Suikogaiden series, since Nash does in fact used a segmented sword whip as a trump card weapon. But no suikoden protagonist has used Katana style blades.
I wish you would not call the main original versions of Trails in the Sky "Sora no Kiseki". They are already released by XSEED. And as such, they should be named "Trails in the Sky", "Trails in the Sky SC" and "Trails in the Sky the 3rd".
Such as the "Monsterpedia". That should be attached to Trails in the Sky and Sky the 3rd.
Can that information be displayed in tabs like other infoboxes do?
On page moving:
I understand your frustration with linking and page names, however, you shouldn't feel like it is only your responsibility to fix these things. I am editing here, as are others, and we all can contribute to the effort. If there is a proper reason for moving a file or article then it should be moved; cleaning up afterwards is just another part of the process.
