Zane in battle is an especially powerful character rivaling even Agate in pure physical strength. Attributed with the Earth element, he possesses very high defense and HP. This makes him a character that could tank very well which is perfect for the endgame. He also possesses crafts that are extremely useful in increasing his parameters, tanking, and healing his allies. He is the best physical character in the first installment as a result. Although in the FC endgame, most of the enemies are archaisms are highly resistant to physical attacks which puts him at disadvantage.
Being a party character focused on physical strength, Zane's orbment limits his arts stength to strive past any medium level magic, due to his Orbment having 4 lines which greatly hinders his use in magic. Customized with the Earth element, most of his open slots require Earth Quartz which supports his tough defense by character. In FC this was a nice complement to his stats, as well as canceling the negative defense stats from Attack Quartz. This causes complications in SC because Defense quartz now have a negative effect on strength. Usually, this meant players leaving the slot empty for normal monsters and then use Zane as a tank in a boss battle. Sepith Vein is also a viable option for his earth limited slots for the purpose of filling them.
